Summer Fun in the Sun!
The time for ‘fun in the sun’ is rapidly approaching! We know getting your beachin’ bod has been high on the priority list for a while now… But being ready for swimsuit season doesn’t just include diet and exercise! If you’re going to be kicking it by the pool, lake, or beach, you’re going to be getting a tan. Well, we’ve got a fun little tip for you! If you apply a temporary tattoo before your sun-scapade, upon removal you will see a defined outline of your cool tat, just like tanning stickers! - STAY HYDRATED! Drinking water is so important. Especially if you will be in the sun for any period of time. When you’re sweating from the sweet kiss of the sun, you are losing water that your body stores to work properly. If you’re playing in the water or playing a sport you lose even more water! Don’t wait until you’re thirsty to drink up! This will help keep the water levels in your body consistent, which means more time outside before you get burnt out… Which brings us to our next subject.
2. Wear Sunscreen and Reapply! The sun is our friend… It sends us Vitamin D, warmth, it helps plants and flowers grow, and it also sends UV rays. When your skin is exposed to these rays, you get a tan. However, to many of these rays will give you a sunburn! Aside from the pain it causes, getting sunburned can increase your risk of cancer drastically. So it is very important to wear an appropriate amount of sun protection. Aside from sunscreen you should also protect your face and eyes with hats and sunglasses.
3. Take Breaks! If you’re in direct sunlight for an extended period of time, make sure to head inside to cool down or find a shady spot to take a breather. Heat exhaustion can come on very suddenly and can last up to days after it happens. Another way to fend off heat sickness? Stay hydrated!
The summer months are a time for fun with friends and family! Whether you’re on a vacation or playing sports, the sun doesn’t have to be your enemy. Make sure to follow these tips so you can soak up as much summer relaxation as possible.
